Letter from Jennie Ostrander
to Bertha, 206 N. Perry St, Johnstown

 My Dear Bertha,

Some time ago I started to write you but was interupted so have delayed til now, and still have little news to tell you.

Bell Chice asks me for you about every month and says tis so strange you never answered him.  They attended college together and will be up a month so let me know if you can come for a few days.  I am sewing some but part of it is work at home so we could have a good time.  I just got got from N. Y. this week 15 yds silk satin striped for a new gown or a new coat and hat so I am near bankrupt.  Mr. Lobey has been home to Canada and returned is still calling on Bell also Chas. Collins.

How are you all?  Is Leah in Norenal now?  Her last letter and requested me to ask you the reason.  Says tell you she would be pleased to hear from you any time.

Jen Stewart as a new black taffeta silk skirt attended Mr.  King's weeding.  She also has been up to Herkimer on a visit and to Schenectady to see play.  Nearly everyone is out sleigh riding today.

I wish you could come up here now.  We are having big times.  A cousin of mine is here on a visit from Dover, Del. and has brought a chum with.

I was so very sorry I had not time to come to Troy on our way to N. Y. for I should have loved to have had you meet Mr. Betelles sister but she is coming again next summer so you may have an oppertunity.  I have been to several Dancing school openings.  Some good plays this fall.

For Thanksgiving I rec'd a 5 lb box of Huylers and 2 of [Ternny?] so now if you were only here I should most certainly make you sick. I have been treating all my friends.  I had a delightful time in Del. & N. Y. where I was down and I trust you had from your letter in Boston.  I think it's fun to be in large cities.

And Roxey, is she angry at Libbie for she has owed her a letter a per fect age.

I had a fine dinner out there Thanksgiving day and to tea in Gville (Gloversville).  Have you seen any thing of Ed Thornton of late?  And all the boys I met down there, are they married, we have had 6 weddings this week.

Arthur was up here about 4 hours where he celebrated peace. Called at Stewarts & Millers but not on us.  Mr. Stewart was down from Herkimer and I met him.

Now I must close trusting this will find you well and that I may hear from you again and soon and do tell me all about your trip and how you all are.  Give my love to all keeping plenty for your self.

Sincerely
Jennie Ostrander
