Harmon Van Buren

This will was kindly contributed to the site by Barbara J. Perricelli, who is an avid Van Buren researcher and wishes to connect with anyone relating to or researching the Van Buren surname. Harmon Van Buren [1804-1866] was the son of Francis H. Van Buren and Hannah Becker.

Town of MAYFIELD
FULTON COUNTY, New York
 

In the name of God, amen, I,  Harmon Van Buren of the town of Mayfield, in the County of Fulton and State of New York, of the age of sixty-two years, and being of sound mind and memory, do make, publish and declare this my last Will and Testament: in manner following: that is to say:-

First.-- I give and bequeath to my wife, Evaline Van Buren, the use of all my real estate, during the time of her natural life.  In addition, to this, I give her two Cows and all the Household Furniture now in use in the house.

Second.-- After the death of my wife, my Will is that my two sons, Martyn Van Buren and Austin Van Buren, shall have the Real Estate together, or that each of them shall have equal parts or one half of the whole.

Third:-- to my daughter, Catherine Ann Grove, I give one Hundred dollars, and to my daughter Mary Van Allen, I give the like sum of One Hundred dollars; To my daughter Sally Becker, I give One Hundred and fifty dollars.

Fourth:-- I give the Horses and Farming utensils to my sons Martyn and Austin above named, and the sheep are to be left on the place for the benefit of my wife.

Fifth:-- I give to my son John Van Buren, One Hundred dollars.

Sixth:-- My executors, are hereby directed to pay whatever lawful debts there may be against me at the time of my death, to pay also the necessary funeral expenses, and put a suitable stone to my grave.

Seventh:-- Whatever there may be remaining of my estate, if there should be anything remaining after paying the above named bequests, I give and bequeath to my wife.

Lastly:-- I hereby appoint my sons Martyn Van Buren and Austin Van Buren, Executors of this, my last Will and Testament hereby revoking all former Wills by me made.

In witness whereof I have hereunto set my hand seal this fifteenth day of March in the year or our Lord One thousand eight hundred and sixty-six.
