CONFESSES TO BURNING BARNS
Vincent Fisher of Town of Caroga Taken Into Custody in Connection With Series of Farm Fires.

Vincent Fisher, son of Englebert Fisher, former supervisor of the town of Bleecker, and now a resident of 60 West Eleventh avenue, Gloversville, was taken into custody yesterday morning by Sheriff Fred Vickery at the home of Jacob Unger, at Caroga Lake, because of his alleged connection with five recent fires in and around Caroga Lake.

The younger Fisher is now confined in the Fulton county Jail and will be given a preliminary hearing before Justice of the Peace Howard Morey at Caroga Lake this morning at 10 o'clock.

Fisher freely admitted his guilt after being questioned by Sheriff Vickery and Police Detective Jacob H. Miller.

Suspicion was first directed toward Fisher, said Sheriff Vickery, last night, because of the fact that he had called on the persons who suffered fire losses and usually inquired if they had carried insurance on their property.

The latest fires occurred Tuesday night when the barns on the farm of Mrs. L. Matison and her father, who own a farm in the town of Caroga, were burned to the ground with heavy losses. In one barn was stored thirty-five tones of hay.

It was stated last night by Sheriff Vickery that Fisher told the authorities that he started the fires just to see them burn and then would go to a hill and watch the flames.

The barns he is alleged to have set fire to were on farms of his father, Englebert Fisher; Joseph Unger, Joseph Seidel, John Seidel, Mrs. L. Matison and L. Fisher.

The authorities are of the opinion that Fisher is mentally unbalanced. He was is a school trustee of the school district in the towns of Caroga and Bleecker.
