Located in Mayfield approx. 0.1 miles west of the Broadalbin town line on Broadalbin's North Main Street Extension. (Also known as Broadalbin Cemetery Road). The proper name for this cemetery is Broadalbin-Mayfield Rural Cemetery. Sections are numbered from 1 on the right side faced from the road through 7 at the far left, with 8 also tucked in on the left and 9 at the far right rear.

Took over from William Kennedy as Superintendant of the new 3-story mill that replaced the 4-story mill that burned on November 29 1905. In 1916 he moved up to General Manager of the mill. He was son of Denton Smith. He ran a button factory near the site of his father's saw mill and for a while his father also ran a cider mill. Ben continued to run his father's saw mill until his father's death in 1905. The business was then sold to Broadalbin Lumber Company (James Spencer /James P. Rosa). |

Came to Broadalbin in 1863 and purchased the Chase saw mill in Fox Hollow. (On the Kennyetto below Saratoga Street). He was trustee of the Baptist Church of Broadalbin and Mayfield from 1879 to 1893 and was on the building committee to rebuild the burned church in 1893. He was Broadalbin Town Supervisor in 1879 and 1889-90. He also donated land for the New Catholic Church. Father of Benjamin Smith. |

Came from Vermont before 1800. Built the first tannery in town about 1805 about 2 miles north- east of Broadalbin on his farm. He was a tanner and currier by trade. He was elected one of the first Broadalbin School Inspectory on April 6 1813. In 1813 he bought stock in and became director of a stock company formed by Duncan McMartin to build and run a woolen mill on the McMartin property. |
