Town of Johnstown, Fulton Co., New York
This cemetery transcript was obtained and typed by volunteer Jill Collins. She writes: I am researching the ancestry and descendants of the following lines: Henry King & his wife Martha Sweet who were early inhabitants of the town of Northampton; Willard Stowell & his wife Alida Vedder of Oppenheim; Albert Gifford & wife Lucy Blowers. Also searching for the missing parents of Harriet J. Gifford b. Jan. 22, 1854 who was the wife of Marcus A. King of Northville.
The following inscriptions appear on the tombstones
of the Old Staley-Peters-Ercanbrack Cemetery, just East of the junction
of the Rockwood-Caroga Lake highway and approx. 1/4 mile off the road to
the South. These inscriptions were copies from the stones themselves
on Aug 1 1953 by Lt. Col C. B. Briggs and wife. Approximately 18 totally
unmarked graves were also seen at this time, no indication being given
as to who was buried in these graves. The following inscriptions
are all that exist at the date shown.
