Intro | Bliss Cemetery | Mallett Cemetery | Round Top Cemetery
On a recent trip back home to visit my folks, I visited a few cemeteries. The following are the tombstones I found. If anyone notices any descreps (or has better directions to locate the cemeteries), please contact me, C. A. Quinn.
I hope this will be of help to all who are researching their roots.
Happy hunting to all!
Peace, love, joy,
Cheryl A. Quinn
BLISS Cemetery, Stratford, New York
This too is an old & abandoned cemetery with many of its stones buried beneith the moss. As one travels out of Stratford on Route 29A east, turn right onto Mallett Hill Road. At the first intersection turn left onto Avery Road. (To turn right is to be on Hadcock Road.) The cemetery is not even 1/2 mile down Avery Road & on the left.
Cornelia wife of William AVERY died Mar 25, 1887 AE 86 yrs., 6 mo., 20 dys. Ebenezer BLISS 1773 - 1853 Roxey BLISS 1779 -1858 (To me this didn't look to be an original stone. It was a thick rectangle shape stone with a deep engraving which was quite easy to read. The stones around it were the tall, thin, flat type. Some had rounded tops & some had squared tops. The engraving was not as deep, though mostly legible & more of the script type than the block letters used on the Ebenezer/Roxey stone.) MALLETT Cemetery, Stratford, NY
This is an old cemetery. Abandoned, by the looks of it. Most of the stones are gone. I imagine they fell & time has let the earth bury them. As one travels east on Route 29A & leaves Stratford, Mallett Hill Road will be on the right. Turn left at the end of Mallett Hill road & in a short distance (not even 1/4 of a mile) one will find the Mallett Cemetery on the left.

ROUND TOP Cemetery, Stratford, NY
I'm not sure if this cemetery is no longer used, but it is taken care of. When I was there, I did see flower arrangements at some of the stones. Since most of the stones are still in place, this listing won't be in alphabetical order. Rather, the order will be a general west to east tour of the cemetery. This cemetery is located on the left hand (northern) side of the road just outside of Stratford, as one travels east on route 29A & heads for Pine Lake.
