Sir:

I have the honor to acknowledge  the receipt from your Office of Application for Pension No. 212-818,and to return herewith, with such information as is furnished by the files of this Office.

It appears from the Rolls on file in this Office that John A. Brown was enrolled on the 10th day of Oct., 1861, at Union Mills in Co. M, 3rd Regiment of NY Arty.  Volunteers to serve 3 years or during the war, and mustered into service as a pvt on the 25 day of Oct. 1861 at Union Mills, Co. M, 3rd Regiment of NY Arty.  On the Muster Roll of Co. M., of that Regiment, from Must. to Aug. 31st, 1862, he is reported present for duty, Sept & Oct 1862, reports him, "Died Oct. 22, 1862 at Hatteras Inlet, N. C."  There is no statement or inventory of Effects on file.

Note:  Sally Ann Brown applied for Mother's Application for Army Pension filed on September 19th, 1873.  She was paid through 4 April 1901, apparently due to her death.
