* Appointed First Lieutenant in 1776 in Captain Robert Abraham YATES' Company (Third Company) in Colonel Frederick Visscher's Regiment of Tryon County Militia (Third Regiment) and he was commissioned on June 25, 1778.

* Fought at the Battle of Oriskany on August 6, 1777. Wounded in the left thigh and taken prisoner on October 24, 1781.

* Appointed Captain of the Fifth Company in Lieutenant Colonel John Newkirk's regiment of Montgomery County Militia in Brigadier General Frederick Visscher's Brigade on October 2, 1786.

* Succeeded as Captain by Peter YATES on March 26, 1787.
