Soldiers Re-Union, 115th Regiment
The ninth annual re-union of the survivors of the 115th
Regiment, N. Y. Vol. Inf., was held Tuesday at Saratoga Springs, where about
one hundred and fifty of the old veterans were brought together, and for a few
hours at least, fought their battles o'er again, and enjoyed themselves, as
they had a right to do, and as none could do better than they, at such a
popular resort as the far famed Saratoga Grand Army hall was made headquarters
for the day, where the business of the veterans organization was
transacted. The banquet was spread at Congress hall. Well, the
least said about the part of the day's programme, the better. But then,
Saratoga is not famed for any large amount of red hot hospitality.
The officers elected for the ensuing year were, Captain
Nicholas De Graff of Amsterdam, president; Lieutenant Seely Conover of
Amsterdam, secretary and treasurer. Amsterdam was selected as the place
for holding the reunion in 1891.
The members of the regiment present from this vicinity,
were Capt. Sidney D. Ligenfelter, Co. D., ____ Peck and Charles Marcellus, of
Co. K; Fred Meyer, Robert Stewart, Webster Shaver, Surrey Herring, Peter J.
Keck, C. W. Sauer, James F. Hollett and Reuben T. Wells, of Co. E.
