Frederick Ritter
Frederick Ritter died January 21, 1840 age 77 years at Salisbury, Herkimer County.
Elizabeth Sypher, his wife died February 22, 1853, age 97 years.
They were married on April 7 ,1787 by the Reverend Abraham Rosecrantz.
They are buried in the Smith Cemetery, Town of Oppenheim, Fulton County on a dirt road two-three miles south of Emmonsburgh.
Military Record for Frederick Ritter
In May 1781, Frederick enlisted as a private in Captain Anthony Whelp's Company in Colonel Marinus Willett's Regiment of New York State Levies while at Niskiuna (Frederick had moved from Manheim to Niskiuna). He was discharged on January 1, 1782.
In the spring of 1782, Frederick enlisted as a private in Captain Andrew Moody's Company in Colonel John Lamb's Regiment of Artillery (Second New York Regiment of Artillery). He was discharged in June of 1783.

Frederick's father was Johannes Ritter, killed at Oriskany; a Sgt. in Colonel Klock's Regiment, Tryon County Militia.
Transcription to below: State of New York [ ]: to Elizabeth, Henry, Frederick, Maria, Martha of Maria Catharine Ritter Orphan Children of Johannes Ritter late Sergeant in Col. Klock's Regiment of Tryon County Militia.
To Seven years half pay which we are entitled to by the Death of our Father who was Slain in the Field on 6th August 1777 as [ ] Col. Klock's certificate-
